Take the Poll

I have decided to let other people choose albums for me.  I want everybody who reads this to vote on a random title up at the top of the screen.  There are four choices.  I chose not to include artists, so just choose at random.  Thank you.

A Fever You Can't Sweat Out

Hello world and all who inhabit it.  *wink wink*  Today is going to be a fun post for me.  I have recently started to get into Panic! At the Disco and their sound is amazing.  This weeks album is 'A Fever You Can't Sweat Out'.  This album was released on September 27, 2005.  This album is over a decade old and I am really excited to share it with you.

Track-By-Track

1.  Introduction

This song is not even really a song.  It is 0:36 seconds and it is mostly back ground noise.  The background noise is mixed with an actual introduction that smoothly moves into the next song.  It does work with every song on the album too.  If you were to shuffle it and it started with this beginning, its transition is clean and precise.   0:36

2.  The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage

This song is very confusing.  First off, the title of the song is very misleading.  The title is not a traditional title in the sense that it does not have any of the title words in the song.  The title has a whole other meaning to it than the actual song, yet they are connected.  The song itself is presenting itself as an introduction to the whole of the album.  It is saying that he is prepared to tell the audience the stories.  The title, on the other hand, is saying that media will tell their stories however they want just to get the views they crave.  There is a difference between suicide and martyrdom, yet the media are willing to twist their words to create a story that will be viewed and talked about.  2:54

3.  London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines

This song is actually very relevant to today's social standards.  The song is telling you to take a chance to be yourself.  The media is very critical and people in general are quick to judge.  They give us names and label us based on the bands that we like and the way we dress.  People don't understand what that can do, yet they keep doing it.  The title is also playing part into the message.  London beckoning is a symbol for the media and the 'Songs About Money Written By Machines'  is people and social medias asking and creating labels and titles about who you are and the things you love and write about.  3:23

4.  Nails for Breakfast, Tacks for Snacks

This song is pretty much questioning the universe.  There is this man or women that is residing in a hospice at the time.  They are either mentally unstable or suicidal and they are questioning things like why they want to die.  They don't know if they want to blame themselves or if they want to blame God or other things like that.  The nails and tacks are symbols for wanting to be gone in a way.  3:23

5.  Camisado

This song ties into the last song.  It begins with a he/she in a hospital bed.  This time it is clear that they are suicidal.  One of the lyrics say that they have made the 'ICU hall of fame' because they have been there for so long and so many times.   3:11

6.  Time to Dance

There is this book called Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk.  This entire song is based on that book.  There are exact lines from the book that are in this song.  Other phrases in this song are illusions to the book.  'Shotgun Wedding' is an illusion to the shooting that takes place in the book.  I personally have never read this book, but I will definitely check it out after this is done.  3:22

7.  Lying Is The Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off

This song is about cheating.  There was a girl that cheated on her boyfriend and throughout this song he is wondering if it was worth it.  If it was worth cheating on him and if she will ever find somebody better than him.  He wants her to really look at the man that she cheated on him with and tell him that the man was worth cheating on him for.  3:20

8.  Intermission

This song is actually an intermission from words and other music.  There is only one line in this whole song.  It goes from electronic music to this more futuristic classical twist.  Once the classical part is over with, just like 'Introduction', it has a very smooth and clean transition between the songs on the album.  2:35

9.  But It's Better If You Do

This song is about a man that gets turned down by this lady that he loves.  She is telling him that he is not man enough for her.  He decides to go to a gentleman's club to show her that he is not.  It was probably not a very good idea to do that on his part.  3:25

10.  I Write Sins Not Tragedies

This song is probably my all time favorite and the only reason I have heard it before is because of the radio play it got when it first came out.  This song can be interpreted in many different ways.  You have the freedom to decide how to take it.  What I believe it is talking about is that the soon to be wife is cheating on her soon to be husband.  This song also reeks of sarcasm and audited which is well deserved.  3:06

11.  I Constantly Thank God for Esteban

This is tied to the last song.  It is still taking place in the church, but it is when they are up at the alter.  The groom goes to front of the church and starts to chew out everybody that showed up to the wedding and knew that the bride was doing this to him.  3:30

12.  There's a Good Reason These Table are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet

This song is about this person that went to a fancy gathering.  They look under-dressed and everybody else in the place looks wonderful and they look stunning because of there confidence.  The title is very long, yet it fits with the song.  In the song they mention that there are cigarettes on the table and that they are laced with a type of poison.  That is the reason that the tables are numbered.  3:16

13.  Build God, Then We'll Talk

This is talking about taking somebodies innocence without there consent.  The mention of girls in white dresses is saying that there is something innocent about this person.  The cockroaches are signifying the person in power that is taking advantage of the person.  It is quite a hard one to interpret unless you have the lyrics right in front of you face.  3:40

This whole album has thirteen stories embedded into it.  There are a couple that are put together and are a continuation of the last song. Over all this album was amazing and the compositions were well placed and very well thought out.  There was a perfect mixture of the classical and electronic genre's.   It was fun to listen to this for the first time and I hope by next time, I will have the embedding for music clips adjusted so that it works.  Enjoy and I will be back next week.
